The Role

Honey Birdette is seeking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager who thrives on ownership, precision, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys running a high-functioning AP operation end-to-end, partnering with the wider finance team, and improving how things are done, not just keeping the lights on.

You’ll manage the full Accounts Payable function, mentor a direct report, and play a key role in month-end, cashflow, and process optimisation across the business.

More specifically, you'll support key aspects of:

• Own and manage end-to-end Accounts Payable operations, ensuring accurate and timely supplier payments

• Oversee payment runs, escalations, and workflow prioritisation to maintain efficiency and control

• Review and audit aged payable balances, including bank reconciliations and accrual processing

• Support month-end and year-end close and audit activities, including expense analysis and reporting

• Assist with cashflow management and forecasting activities

• Review existing AP processes, identifying and leading continuous improvement and system enhancements

• Develop and maintain AP process documentation and provide system and expense policy support to employees

• Provide coaching, guidance, and development support to team members within the Accounts Payable function

• Support ad-hoc finance initiatives as required

Your Sweet Spots (About You)

• Accounting qualifications (University degree or TAFE diploma) are not critical but well regarded.

• You're based in Sydney and enjoy a hybrid work environment

• At least 2 years of experience working in industry in a similar role

• Previous experience in Accounts Payable leadership role

• Previous experience working in a global operational environment with multiple currencies

• You thrive under pressure, staying calm and detail-focused while juggling deadlines and high-volume workloads.

• A proactive and solutions-focused mindset

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

• Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail

• Advance in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP and Accounts Payable automation systems
