The Role
The Garment Technician at Honey Birdette is the unsung hero behind our exquisite collections, transforming visionary designs into flawless, high-quality garments. Your primary responsibilities will include developing precise garment specifications, creating intricate technical drawings, and ensuring every design is translated perfectly into luxurious products that exude elegance and allure.
Collaborating closely with our talented designers, pattern makers, and manufacturers, you'll ensure each piece meets and exceeds our rigorous standards for fit, comfort, and durability. Your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining the impeccable quality and seductive appeal that define Honey Birdette.
This role demands a keen eye for detail and a passion for perfection, ensuring our collections not only look sensational but also feel incredible to wear. Your dedication and technical prowess will ensure Honey Birdette continues to set the standard in the world of intimate apparel.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop technical product to specifications that meet the high level of Honey Birdette quality and integrity of standards
- Apply a high level of knowledge of materials, trims, and their properties to garment construction
- Provide fit comments using clear communication methods including technical descriptions and photos to convey to global manufacturers for efficient processing of fit changes
- Amend Illustrator technical drawings from fit, construction and style changes
- Write and update technical data specifications, maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of sketches, materials and article codes that occur during the size set to production stage
- Adjust patterns for fit changes, using Modaris Xpert software
- Attend weekly design meetings, and ensure projects are tracking to the Critical Path
- Develop strong partnerships with global garment manufacturers, engaging successful collaboration and communication strategies to effectively deliver quality fit, make, and manufacturable product
- Develop new components including preform cups, carbon filament wires and accessories
- Attend fittings with fit models, the head technical designer and the design team
- Collaborate with the designers, to successfully bring together the designer’s product intent with your knowledge of exacting technical standards on fit and construction
- Assist the designers with construction advice on cost engineering to meet target FOB’s
- Ensure quality of new products regarding fit and construction meet Honey Birdette quality standards and meet customer expectation and satisfaction requirements
Your Sweet Spots (About You)
- Patternmaking and grading experience in bras, lingerie, swim, and sleepwear
- In depth knowledge of bra fit, construction, and specialised materials
- A high level of proficiency in Modaris Xpert
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and fundamentals knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Accredited course in Fashion Technology
- Experience communicating with global manufacturing partners
- Knowledge of industry standards for quality assurance and testing procedures
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods, sewing machinery, and the production environment
- Solutions orientated approach working across innovative and challenging products
- Time management and organisational skills to handle multiple projects
- Multi-disciplinary skills to work simultaneously across different categories and seasons
- Ability to travel overseas where required to manufacturers and suppliers
This role must be performed from our HQ office in Sydney CBD.
