The Role
As a Junior Garment Technician at Honey Birdette, you will play a crucial supporting role in bringing our exquisite collections to life. Working alongside our senior technicians and designers, you'll assist in transforming visionary designs into high-quality garments that reflect the elegance and allure of our brand.
Your key responsibilities will include assisting in the development of garment specifications, contributing to the creation of technical drawings, and supporting the translation of designs into luxurious products. You'll work closely with our talented team to ensure that each piece meets our high standards for fit, comfort, and durability.
This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for intimate apparel, and a drive to develop their technical skills. Your contribution will help ensure that Honey Birdette continues to set the standard for impeccable quality and seductive appeal in the world of intimate fashion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing technical product specifications that align with Honey Birdette's high standards of quality and integrity.
- Support in applying knowledge of materials, trims, and their properties to garment construction under the guidance of senior team members.
- Help provide clear and accurate fit comments through written communication and photos, ensuring global manufacturers can efficiently implement fit changes.
- Amend Illustrator technical drawings based on feedback related to fit, construction, and style changes, with oversight from senior technicians.
- Assist in writing and updating technical data specifications, ensuring accuracy in sketches, materials, and article codes throughout the size set to production stage.
- Support pattern adjustments for fit changes using Modaris Xpert software, as directed by senior team members.
- Participate in weekly design meetings to stay updated on project timelines and ensure tasks are progressing according to the Critical Path.
- Build strong working relationships with global garment manufacturers, contributing to effective communication and collaboration for quality fit and manufacturable products.
- Assist in the development of new components, such as preform cups, carbon filament wires, and accessories, with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Attend fittings with fit models, alongside the head technical designer and design team, to observe and contribute to the fit process.
- Collaborate with designers to help bring their product vision to life while learning and applying technical standards for fit and construction.
- Support the design team with construction advice on cost engineering to help meet target FOBs.
- Ensure that the quality of new products, in terms of fit and construction, aligns with Honey Birdette's quality standards and customer satisfaction expectations.
Your Sweet Spots (About You)
- Foundational knowledge in patternmaking and grading, with a focus on bras, lingerie, swim, and sleepwear.
- Basic understanding of bra fit, construction, and the use of specialized materials.
- Entry-level proficiency in Modaris Xpert, with a willingness to learn and develop further.
- Competency in Adobe Illustrator and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Completion of an accredited course in Fashion Technology or a related field.
- Some experience in communicating with global manufacturing partners or a strong interest in developing this skill.
- Awareness of industry standards for quality assurance and testing procedures, with a desire to deepen your knowledge.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing methods, sewing machinery, and the production environment.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, eager to work on innovative and challenging products.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects under supervision.
- An interest in working across different categories and seasons, developing multi-disciplinary skills over time.
- Willingness to travel overseas, if required, to visit manufacturers and suppliers, with support and guidance from senior team members
